MICHAEL K. MICKSON (Ph.D.)

Dr. Mickson is an educationist and a human resource practitioner. Until January 2021, he was the General Manager of Life Petroleum Company Ltd. Before joining Life Petroleum, he was the Acting General Manager & Human Resource and Business Development Manager for Pacific Oil Ghana Ltd. In joining Pacific Oil Ghana Ltd; he established the Human Resource Department and developed policies to enhance the Human Resource capacity of the company. He liaised with key stakeholders to ensure efficiency and productivity in operations. In addition, he is a resourceful and results-driven Lecturer at the School of Graduate Studies at the University of Professional Studies. He lectures courses in Organizational Behaviour and Management, Organizational Development, Business Leadership & Ethics, Corporate Governance, Advanced Human Resources Management, among others. Dr. Mickson is also an Adjunct Lecturer at GIMPA. With a background in academia and industry he is able to develop his students to become relevant to the industry where they find themselves.
In addition, Dr. Mickson is a Management Consultant and provides consultancy services in areas such as Organizational Development, Change Management, Customer Care, Administration and Human Resources (Recruitment Services, Training, Performance Management) for numerous organizations. He is also a facilitator and Consultant for African Management Services Company (AMSCO) a UNESCO sponsored Organization and has facilitated numerous training programmes for organizations such as Holiday Inn, Royal Senchi, Toyota Ghana, Cocobod, Ghana Ports & Harbours Authority, Gridco etc.
Before joining the University of Professional Studies, Dr. Mickson worked as a Human Resource and Training Officer for Prudential Bank Limited. During his stay with the Bank, he introduced initiatives to enhance training administration before the introduction of an HR software. He attended series of training programmes at the National Banking College, Chartered Institute of Bankers and other External Training Providers. He has also worked as HR Manager for Tulip Inn Accra Hotel. He assisted in formulating key strategies to improve room occupancy rates and staff efficiency.
He has a successful track record of developing best practices that facilitates more efficient processes and creating strong cohesive teams capable of independently achieving operational directives and targets, and he seeks to develop new interventions to improve upon organizational effectiveness.
